Apiary Forecast expands bee-weather beta with free UK Swarm Outlook and new saved-apiary tools
Campbeltown, ARGYLL AND BUTE - July 8, 2026-- Beekeeping-focused weather service now supports swarm awareness, inspection planning, forage access, stores-pressure signals, queen mating weather and private saved-apiary guidance.
Apiary Forecast, a beekeeping-focused weather decision-support service, has expanded its UK beta with a free Swarm Outlook and a growing set of member tools for practical hive management.
The service interprets forecast weather through a beekeeping lens, helping beekeepers judge whether conditions are likely to support colony inspections, bee flight, forage access, nectar and pollen confidence, stores pressure, queen mating flights and swarm-weather awareness.
Swarm Outlook is free to use across the UK. Member tools include Inspection Outlook, Forage Outlook, Queen Mating Outlook, My Apiaries and My Apiary Trends.
Apiary Forecast began as a local weather-awareness experiment for Kintyre and Mid Argyll Beekeeping Association. It has since developed into a wider beekeeping service using forecast weather data, location, elevation, local-development timing, saved-apiary exposure settings, regional forage context, Managed Forage observations and Plant Atlas 2020 plant-distribution evidence.
Founder and developer John Richardson said:
“Beekeepers already know that weather matters, but a normal weather forecast does not answer beekeeping questions directly. Apiary Forecast tries to bridge that gap. It asks practical questions: is this a sensible inspection window, are bees likely to fly, is forage accessible, are stores under pressure, could this weather support mating flights, and should a beekeeper be more swarm-aware?”
The service is designed to support judgement, not replace it. Apiary Forecast does not diagnose colony condition, guarantee colony behaviour or replace training, local observation, association guidance, disease advice or checks at the hive.
Private saved-apiary locations are account-bound. Saved coordinates are deliberately fuzzed for privacy and are not exposed in public links or public forecast pages.
The service is currently in controlled beta, with UK-wide Swarm Outlook available free and member-only tools available for supported regions and saved-apiary use.
