Funding Press Release Template
Announce a seed round, Series A, grant, or other raise. A full example release, the copy-paste skeleton, and an AI prompt tuned for this announcement type.
What is a funding press release?
A funding press release announces new capital: the amount, the round, who led it, and what the money buys. Readers treat it as a milestone marker. An outside firm diligenced the company and wrote a check, which is why funding releases get read by customers, recruits, and competitors as much as by journalists.
When should you use one?
Announce after the round has closed, on a date coordinated with your lead investor. The common play is to offer one outlet the story under embargo, then publish the release on the wire the same morning so the announcement exists on the record everywhere else. Waiting months after close is fine; announcing before the money is in the bank is not.
Example funding press release
DENVER, Colo. — August 11, 2026 — Meridian Grid, a software company that monitors utility-scale battery storage, today announced an $8.5 million Series A led by Cascara Ventures with participation from existing investors Frontier Seed and Halcyon Angels. The round brings total funding to $11.2 million and will fund a doubling of the engineering team and expansion into the Texas market in early 2027.
Meridian Grid's platform tracks cell-level degradation across battery sites and predicts maintenance windows before capacity drops. According to the company, the platform monitors 1.4 gigawatt-hours of storage across 60 sites for 12 utility and independent-power customers, and monitored capacity has tripled in the past year.
As part of the round, Cascara Ventures partner Dana Whitfield joins the Meridian Grid board. The company plans to grow from 22 to 45 employees by the end of 2027, with hiring concentrated in engineering and customer operations.
"Storage is being deployed faster than anyone can hire people to watch it," said Tomás Rivera, chief executive officer of Meridian Grid. "This round lets us build for the operators adding a new site every quarter."

Fill in the facts section, then paste the whole thing into ChatGPT, Claude, or the Press Ranger AI writer.
The rules in the prompt produce a release formatted to pass wire editorial review: third person, no bylines, attributed statistics.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to disclose the funding amount?
No, but releases without an amount get materially less coverage. "Undisclosed round" removes the number that makes the story rankable against every other raise announced that week.
When should the release go out relative to closing?
After the round closes, on a date coordinated with the lead investor. Many companies give one outlet the story under embargo and publish the wire release the same morning.
What numbers should a funding release include?
The amount, the total raised to date, and traction numbers that survive scrutiny: customers, usage, growth. Attribute each to the company or a named source; unattributed statistics are refused in wire editorial review.
How do I distribute a funding press release?
Tech and business press get pitched directly, often under embargo. For the announcement of record, our wholesale press release distribution publishes to named outlets including Business Insider, Yahoo Finance, and AP News for $299 to $399 flat.
