Article Database

What is an Article Database?

An article database is a searchable index of published media content. PR teams use article databases to find out who is writing about specific topics, which outlets are covering their industry, and how recently a subject has been in the news. Instead of relying on journalist bios that may be outdated, an article database lets you search by what has actually been published.

Press Ranger's article database indexes articles from thousands of outlets and links each one back to the journalist and publisher that produced it. You can filter by keyword, category, language, publisher type, and date range to find exactly what you are looking for.

You can search the article database at pressranger.com/articles.

This is often the best place to start when building a media list. If a journalist wrote about your topic in the last 90 days, they are far more likely to cover it again than someone whose bio just mentions it.

Search Filters

The article search sidebar includes the following filters. You can combine any of them to narrow results.

  • Category - Filter by industry categories like Technology, Finance, Health, Sports, etc.
  • Language - Filter by one or more languages.
  • Publisher Type - Filter by the type of outlet the article was published in (e.g. Newspaper, Magazine, Blog, Podcast).
  • Published within - Limit results by recency. Options:
    • Last 30 days
    • Last 90 days (default)
    • Last year
  • Search - Keyword search across article titles and excerpts. Supports advanced syntax:
    • Use commas to find ALL terms: this, that
    • Use pipes to find ANY term: this|that
    • Combine them: this, thing | that, thing
  • Has valid email - Only show articles where the journalist has a verified email address (enabled by default).

Click "Apply filters" to run your search. Click "Clear all filters" to reset.

Search Results

Each result shows:

  • Article title - Clickable link to the original article
  • Publish date - When the article was published
  • Journalist - The journalist(s) who wrote the article, linked to their profile
  • Publisher - The outlet that published the article, linked to their profile
  • Categories - Topics the article was tagged with
  • Language - The language the article was written in
  • Excerpt - A short summary of the article content

Bulk Selection

The Article Database supports bulk selection. When you select multiple articles using the checkboxes, Press Ranger extracts the unique journalists from those articles so you can add them to a contact list in one action.

This is a fast way to go from "articles about my topic" to "a list of journalists who recently covered it."

Tips

  • Start with a Category filter and Last 90 days to see what is being published in your space right now.
  • Use Search to find articles about niche topics that don't map to a broad category (e.g. "climate tech funding" or "AI regulation Europe").
  • Combine Category + Language + Publisher Type to find recent articles in specific outlet types, like English-language magazine features about fintech.
  • Use bulk selection to quickly build a contact list of journalists who have recently written about your topic.
  • The Has valid email filter (on by default) ensures every journalist in the results has a reachable email address.
