Campaigns
Campaigns are the central workspace for organizing your PR efforts. Each campaign bundles together a press release, email template, contact list, and checklist into one project so you can plan, execute, and track your outreach from a single page.
Campaign Types
When you create a campaign, you choose a type that determines what resources Press Ranger generates for you:
Media Outreach
A traditional PR campaign for pitching journalists directly. Press Ranger generates:
- A press release draft based on your announcement
- An email template with a personalized pitch and link to the release
- A contact list of relevant journalists
- A checklist to guide you through the outreach process
Press Release
Focused on drafting and distributing a press release. Press Ranger generates a sequence of press release drafts tailored to your brand and announcement.
AI Search Visibility
Designed to improve your brand's ranking on AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. This campaign type generates:
- Press release headlines optimized for AI search queries
- Reddit thread suggestions where your brand can contribute value
- Blog content ideas (listicle-style titles) targeting your keyword
- A checklist of actionable steps
This type requires a target query — the search phrase you want to rank for (e.g. "best PR software for startups").
Creating a Campaign
- Go to AI Campaigns from the dashboard.
- Click Create Campaign.
- Select a campaign type from the modal.
- Fill in the required fields:
- Name — A label for the campaign (e.g. "Q2 Product Launch" or "AI Search - Best PR Software").
- Company — Which of your companies this campaign is for.
- Language — The language for generated content.
- Description — A summary of the news you are announcing or the goal you are pursuing. This is used by the AI to generate your press release, email template, and other content.
- Release date — When the announcement goes live (Media Outreach and Press Release types).
- Target query — The search phrase you want to rank for (AI Search Visibility type).
- Click Save & Continue.
Press Ranger will immediately begin generating your campaign resources. This takes a few seconds.
Working with a Campaign
Once created, the campaign page shows all generated resources in one view:
- Campaign details — Edit the name, description, company, or other settings at any time. Updating the campaign regenerates all AI content.
- Checklist — A step-by-step guide customized to your campaign type. Check off items as you complete them. Progress is tracked with a percentage bar on the campaigns list.
- Press release — View, edit, or publish your draft directly from the campaign.
- Email template — Review and edit the AI-generated pitch email. Click "Edit" to customize the subject and message.
- Contact list — A curated list of journalists relevant to your campaign. Click "Edit" to add or remove contacts.
Tracking Progress
The campaigns index page shows all your campaigns with:
- Campaign name and type badge
- Progress bar showing what percentage of checklist items are complete
- Quick actions to view or delete a campaign
Deleting a Campaign
From the campaigns list, click the trash icon next to any campaign and confirm. This permanently removes the campaign and its associated resources.
Tips
- Start with a Media Outreach campaign if you have a specific announcement and want to pitch journalists directly.
- Use AI Search Visibility campaigns to systematically improve your brand's ranking on AI chatbots. Pair them with the guides in the AI Search Visibility section.
- Keep campaign descriptions specific and detailed — the AI uses this text to generate all your content, so more context produces better results.
- Create separate campaigns for different announcements or keywords rather than trying to cover everything in one.
- Use mail templates to customize your outreach emails, and contact lists to manage your journalist targets.
