Publisher Database

What is a Publisher Database?

A publisher database is a searchable directory of media outlets, news sites, blogs, magazines, and broadcast networks. PR teams use publisher databases to identify which outlets cover their industry, reach their target audience, and accept pitches. Instead of manually researching outlets one by one, a publisher database lets you filter by category, location, language, and media type to build a targeted list fast.

Press Ranger's publisher database includes thousands of active, verified outlets from around the world. Every profile includes the publisher's website, location, languages, media types, category data, and contact emails so you can evaluate fit and reach out directly.

You can search the publisher database at pressranger.com/publishers.

Search Filters

The publisher search sidebar includes the following filters. You can combine any of them to narrow results.

  • Country - Filter by one or more countries using the dropdown.
  • Location - Search by city or state (e.g. "Los Angeles" or "New York").
  • Search - Search across publisher names, descriptions, bios, and websites. Supports advanced syntax:
    • Use commas to find ALL terms: this, that
    • Use pipes to find ANY term: this|that
    • Combine them: this, thing | that, thing
  • Language - Filter by one or more languages.
  • Category - Filter by industry categories like Technology, Finance, Health, Sports, etc. Results are sorted by how many articles have been published in the selected category.
  • Media Type - Filter by outlet type such as Newspaper, Magazine, Blog, Podcast, TV, Radio, etc.

Click "Apply filters" to run your search. Click "Clear all filters" to reset.

Search Results

Each result card shows:

  • Publisher name
  • Location - City, state, and country
  • Languages - Languages the publisher publishes in
  • Media types - The type of outlet (e.g. Newspaper, Blog, Magazine)
  • Categories - Top categories the publisher covers, ranked by article volume

Actions

From the search results, you can:

  • View a profile - Click the publisher's name or the "View" button to open their full profile page with detailed contact info and journalist listings.
  • Mark as "Not a fit" - Hide the publisher from future search results if they are not relevant to your campaigns.

Bulk Selection

You can select multiple publishers at once using the checkboxes on each card. This lets you work with a batch of publishers at a time instead of one by one.

Tips

  • Use Category filters for broad topic targeting. Categories represent industry-level topics and are the best way to find outlets that regularly cover your space.
  • Use Search for niche topics that don't map to a single category, like "mental health" or "electric vehicles."
  • Combine Country + Language + Category to build a targeted regional media list.
  • Use Media Type to narrow results to specific outlet formats (e.g. only Podcasts or only Magazines).
  • Once you find a publisher that fits, click through to their profile to see which journalists write for them.
